Cobalt drives appetite and energy levels to ensure good growth rates, development and overall well-being.

Cobalt is essential for the formation of Vitamin B12, a vital enzyme in the utilisation of the energy content of food and animal growth. A lack of cobalt in the diet can result in poor growth rates, dull coats, infertility, low milk production and decreased wool production.

Monitor cobalt status in your animals closely as dry/hot summers and wet/cold winters can deplete natural soil reserves reducing the cobalt status in herbage. Additional cobalt supplementation may be required during this period. Regular blood/liver tests should be undertaken to monitor cobalt status.

Dose Rate:

Cattle: 0.5 – 1 mL/cow/day (based on a 500kg animal)

Sheep: 1.25 litres/1000 head/week

Pasture Spraying:

Bell-Booth Cobalt can also be pasture-sprayed at 3 litre/ha. Apply to 1/3 – 1/2 of the required area. Application one week after grazing, gives the best results. Keep stock off the sprayed pasture for seven days to maximize plant uptake.

Application at key times, pre-lamb, weaning, after prolonged dry or very wet periods. Keep stock off sprayed pasture for a minimum of seven days to maximise plant uptake.
